Book Prize President Arrested

Italy's best known intellectual and president of the prestigious Grinzane Cavour book prize, has been arrested for embezzlement of public funds.
On the Web site lifeinitaly.com police arrested Giuliano Soria Thursday night for allegedly using around one million euros of funds donated for private means. Investigators have also confiscated a number of properties belonging to Soria on Friday, including his 500 meter apartment in Turin.
This years prize ceremony that was due to take place in June has been canceled due to Soria's arrest. He's also under investigation for sexual violence and maltreatment, however police say these charges are unrelated to the embezzlement.
Soria, 58, helped founded the Grinzane Cavour prize in 1982 and is currently the president.
